McDaniel College Sports Medicine

Mission Statement

McDaniel College Sports Medicine is dedicated to the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of intercollegiate athletic injuries. Our goal is to provide excellent health care to every McDaniel athlete and when necessary, visiting teams.

About Us

McDaniel College health care is overseen by Sam Matz, MD, who has been affiliated with the college since 1987. He is one of the managing partners at The Advanced Centers for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine located in Westminster and Owings Mills, where he specializes in knee and shoulder surgery and sports medicine injuries.

McDaniel's staff includes two full-time athletic trainers with close to 30 years of combined experience at the collegiate level as well as three graduate assistant (GA) athletic trainers, who each work for a two-year period while gaining their Masters degree.
