McDaniel to host ECAC semifinal

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host a 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region baseball championship tournament semifinal game on Wednesday at Preston Field in Westminster, Md.

The second-seeded Green Terror (21-15) will take on third-seeded Penn State-Abington (22-21) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner the other semifinal between No. 1 seed LaRoche (29-14) and No. 6 Waynesburg (20-18).

The semifinal winners will meet at the site of the higher remaining seed for the championship on Saturday. Game time will be determined after the host is decided.

McDaniel is making its second straight ECAC tournament appearance after recording its second 20-win season in a row.

Zach Jones (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) has led the Centennial Conference's second-ranked pitching staff with a 1.90 ERA, earning a spot on the all-conference first team. He has struck out 78 batters in 71.0 innings of work. He is 9-1 in his 11 starts this season.

Marshall Betts (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) and Pat Christopher (Union Beach, N.J./St. John Vianney) have led the offense this season and both earned spots on the second team. Betts is hitting .349 with 44 hits, including 11 doubles and team bests of 26 runs scored and 22 RBIs. Christopher is hitting .326 with 43 base knocks, including two doubles, two triples and two home runs. He has 22 runs scored and 17 RBIs.
