THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel had five placewinners, including one champion, to lead the way at the annual Petrofes Invitatational hosted by Messiah. The Green Terror finished sixth with 89.5 points.

THE LEADERS
• Tony Wuest (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) led the way with a first-place finish at 197, going 5-0 with three pins to remain undefeated on the season. Wuest started his day with back-to-back sub-1:00 minutes on Friday. In the quarterfinals, he topped Bridgewater's Henry Oberlander with a 2-minute, 56-second pin. On Saturday, he notched a 9-0 win over Mount Union's Landon Talbert in the semifinals and a 6-0 win over Muhlenberg's Luca Colestock in the finals.
Ryker Eckenbarger (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) finished fifth at 141 with a 4-2 showing. On Friday, eh posted an 11-4 win over Ryan Lesko (Alvernia) in the first round before topping Jeorcy Pena (Muhlenberg) with a 23-5 technical fall. He advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 win before eventual champion Garret Cornell (Messiah) pinned Eckenbarger in 2:39. Eckenbarger dropped an 8-6 decision in the consolation semis to Mount Union's Jordin James before he topped Gettysburg's Sean Thompson 7-5 in the fifth-place match.
• Michael Bromley (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) made it a pair of fifth-place showing with a 4-2 weekend. After drawing a bye to start, he topped Alvernia's Chase Smith 4-2 before falling in the quarterfinals to John DeVito (Wilkes), 10-6. In the consolation bracket, he had a 2-minute, 56-second fall and 8-1 win before falling 6-4 in the extra time in the consolation semis and winning by forfeit in the fifth-place match.
• Alexander LaVeck (Marriottsville, Md./McDonogh) opened his weekend with a forfeit win before notching back-to-back first-period pins, including a seven-second fall in the second round. In the semifinals, Stephen Maloney (Messiah) recorded a 4-0 over LaVeck, who was pinned midway through the second period in the consolation semis and fell 8-0 to Colby Morris (Waynesburg) in the fifth-place match to place sixth.
• Isaiah Fosque (Laurel, Del./Laurel) finished eighth at 141. His day started with back-to-back to wins, including an opening-round pin with 19 seconds remaining before a 2-1 win the second round. After falling to Sean Thompson (Gettysburg) with a 4-minute, 13-second pin in the quarterfinals, Fosque recorded a 2-minute, 25-second pin of his own. He dropped a 16-0 bout before falling 7-5 to Dalton Daugherty (Messiah) in the seventh-place match.

FOR THE FOES
• Mount Union won the 19-team invitational with 216 points. Messiah was second with 173.5 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Steven Pabon (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) recorded one win at 133. He dropped his opening match 11-4 before a 17-2 win in his first match of the consolation bracket.
• At 149, Raymond Kable opened his Friday with a pair of wins, notching a 10-2 win over Steve MacDonald (Gettysburg) and 3-1 win over Jesse Walker (Penn College) before falling 12-4 in the quarterfinals and 12-2 in the consolation bracket.
• Anthony Carida (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) opened his day with an injury default win before falling twice at 157.
• Garrett Vandervalk (Westminster, Md./Westminster) dropped an 18-6 decision to start the weekend but then recorded two wins in the consolation bracket. He notched two pins in 5:43 over Tristan Chen (Gettysburg) and 1:01 over Kyle York (Southern Virginia) before falling in 1:55 to Wilfredo David (Bridgewater State).
• Gabe Dennis (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill) started his weekend at 184 with a 4-minute, 4-second fall before falling to the consolation bracket with a 24-6 technical fall. He added wins in the consolation bracket by fall in 2:19 and in the first tiebreaker period, 8-6. He dropped a 10-5 10-5 decision to Ali Capobianco (Alvernia) in his final bout.
Tristen Cook (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) went 3-2 at heavyweight. His day started with a 42-second pin at the hands of Grant Martin (Mount Union) before a 1-minute, 6-second fall in the opening round of the consolation bracket. Cook added wins of 9-3 over Samuel Blevins (Messiah) and a 1-minute, 20-second fall over Roger Horton (Wilkes). Brandon Williams ended Cook's weekend with a 6-minute, 18-second pin.
