WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Gettysburg, Pa., in the first-round game of the 2019 Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer championship on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
The fifth-seeded Green Terror (13-5, 6-4 CC) faces fourth-seeded Gettysburg (12-3-1, 6-3-1 CC) with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinals at Dickinson.
Top-seeded Dickinson (13-1-4, 8-0-2 CC) will host Wednesday's winner in the first semifinal to begin at 12 p.m. Second-seeded Johns Hopkins (12-2-4, 6-1-3 CC) will face third-seeded Haverford (12-3-2, 6-2-2 CC) in the day's other semifinal at 3 p.m., or 60 minutes following the conclusion of the first semifinal.
The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will begin at 1 p.m.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Nov. 16. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 1 p.m.
The Green Terror is seeking its first conference title. It is the sixth tournament appearance for McDaniel. The Green Terror is also in search of its fifth NCAA tournament bid in the last six seasons.
In the regular-season meeting between the Green Terror and Bullets, Gettysburg prevailed 1-0 at McDaniel on Sept. 25.
Junior Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore Hannah Schepers (Port Deposit, Md./St. Mark's) are tied for the team lead with nine goals this season. Both also have three assists for a team-high 21 points. Junior Kristen Worry (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster-Strasburg) leads the team with nine assists.
Sophomore Katherine Carstensen (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) has a 0.83 goals-against average and .754 save percentage.
