WESTMINSTER, Md. – Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), a junior on the McDaniel volleyball team, was named to the Academic All-District II Division III volleyball first team presented by CoSIDA on Thursday.

Bauman earned her first nod to the team with a 4.0 GPA as of the end of the spring semester. Bauman was one of nine players selected to the first team. The biology major now advances to the national ballot with all of the first-team selections from the eight districts for the Academic All-America team, which will be released on Dec. 13.

A libero, Bauman finished the season with a single-season program-record 580 digs. She also led the team with 61 service aces. Her 5.63 digs per set also paced the Centennial Conference (CC) while her 0.59 aces per set ranked third.

A three-time all-conference selection that includes a second-team selection this seasons, she led the Green Terror (19-9, 6-4 CC) into the conference semifinals and an ECAC bid.

She was named to the CC Academic Honor Roll last season. The captain has been named to the Dean's List in each of the previous four semesters and was tabbed to the McDaniel Green and Gold Honor Roll last year.

The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select the All-District team. District II consists of all of the Division III colleges and universities in Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
