PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Gayle Edelstein (Livingston, N.J./Livingston), a rising junior on the McDaniel volleyball team, will be a participating in the 14th Pan American Maccabi Games.
The Games are slated to take place on July 5-15 in Mexico City, Mexico.
Edelstein will be a part of the Open Women's Volleyball team, joining six other athletes. Edelstein is one of four current collegiate athletes on the team and one of two Division III athletes.
The Games are hosted by the Confederacion Latinoamericana Maccabi (CLAM) and are conducted in cooperation with Maccabi World Union. They are held every four years, two years after the Maccabiah is held. The Pan American Maccabi Games are a high-level athletic competition for Jewish athletes all over the world aimed at connecting Jews from the Diaspora.
Maccabi USA will bring a team of 400-plus athletes, who will join the other 2,500 Jewish athletes from 19 countries, participating in 24 different sports.
Edelstein played in all 32 matches for the Green Terror in 2018. The setter contributed a team-high 522 assists to go with a team-best 53 service aces. She also added 233 digs, 34 kills and one total block. In her two seasons at McDaniel, she has 949 assists, 94 aces and 399 digs.
The Green Terror opens the 2019 season at the annual Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg on Aug. 30-31.
