THE SKINNY
Ursinus rallied back with wins in the fourth and fifth sets to overcome an early deficit from McDaniel and capture the deciding set 15-12 for a 3-2 win.
THE LEADERS
• Anna Jezerski (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the Green Terror with 18 kills.
• Nia Roberts (Walkersville, Md./Frederick) finished with 10 kills and an ace.
• Lauren Guyer (York, Pa./York Suburban) anchored the defense with 10 digs.
FOR THE FOES
• Caroline Sherman led the Bears offense with 16 kills.
• Claire Worley and Rachel Bernard combined for 43 assists.
• Katie Cressman finished with a double-double totaling 15 kills and 12 digs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• McDaniel jumped out early on Ursinus taking a 12-5 lead before a Bear timeout in the first set. Ursinus regrouped and closed the gap to 23-22. Anna Jezerski connected on kill late for a 25-23 first set victory.
• The second set featured 14 ties in a close fought battle. Lauren Guyer had back-to-back aces to bring it even at 7-all. Caroline Sherman scored two of the last five points for Ursinus, who edged out a 25-23 win.
• McDaniel took control of the third set early, combining for 12 kills with only three errors to pull away from the Bears in a 25-16 victory.
• The Bears responded in the fourth set with an early 10-4 lead, forcing a Green Terror timeout. McDaniel closed the gap to three with two aces from Regan Gefroh (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) and a Jezerski kill but Ursinus regrouped and closed out a 25-15 win to force a fifth set.
• The deciding set featured four ties early. Katie Cressman recorded four of her 15 kills in the final set to key the three-point win.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Brenna Campbell (Clarion, Pa./Carion Area) tallied 45 assists for McDaniel.
• Angalyn Strouse (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) finished with eight kills and three digs.
